And then I realized my Friday morning became all about food waste.
Smoothies for breakfast with fruit from the freezer that we froze just before it spoiled. Do you have a Vitamix? We use ours several times a week and love it!
This morning I used this green smoothie recipe and added flax seed. I would love some recs for a delicious smoothie with blueberries if you’ve got one in your back pocket. We still have a bunch of blueberries from last year when we bought them in bulk from a local farmer.
You can reply to this email or leave a comment if you’re in the app if you’ve got a smoothie recipe I can try. The email comes right back to my Gmail. TIA
I just got this PlantYou cookbook in the mail last week, and I’m set to find some recipes from it for next week’s meal plan. She’s got some really great ideas, so I’m stoked to try out what she put in her book.
While grabbing all those smoothie ingredients, I realized I had everything ready for a DIY chicken broth. I have no fancy recipe. Just:
chicken carcass + bunch of veggie scraps (onions, celery, and carrots are my go-to’s) + water to cover it all in a big pot
boil until the liquid looks like chicken broth
strain (over a bowl) and store in reused glass jars
Can you tell I have no future in food blogging? But I can’t not remind you to compost the food scraps after making the broth. Of course, I’d say that…
