I love seeing all the weekend roundups and wanted to try something new. Last week, I shared my Highs and Lows for the week with

Jo Piazza
. You should go check them out and see more of what she shares. I love her perspective on being a mom in this crazy world.

If every single person reading this newsletter right now preordered Everyone is Lying to You we would definitely hit the NYT bestseller list. Isn’t that wild? I think you should do it…

Inspired by this, I’m trying a twist on that series with an ode to how much I love reading. Welcome to the weekly RBT + TBR: Roses, Buds, and Thorns + a few things to consider for your To-Be-Read list. I share:

  • my Roses, Buds, and Thorns for the week

  • books I’ve finished recently with ⭐ ratings

  • books I’m currently reading

  • articles I’ve read that stand out as spectacular

  • and a few podcasts I love (listening is just as good as reading)

At the end, I’ll do a book giveaway each week (for paid subscribers). I’ve wanted to do this and tried it occasionally on Instagram, but it never felt fruitful. I’ve seen others (like

Emily Amick
) try it on Substack, so let’s see how it goes.

My husband and younger son are traveling for a hockey tournament this weekend, so it’s a slow weekend with just me and one of my boys. We don’t have many slow weekends, so I’m indulging.

  • I played lacrosse with my older son on a gorgeous afternoon this week. By "play" lacrosse, I used a baseball glove to catch the lacrosse ball and threw it back to him. I played softball growing up, so I'm catch/throw literate but not with a lacrosse stick. Not even close. 😬
